NSF Graduate Research Fellow
Ph.D. Student, Robotics, Georgia Institute of Technology (Fall 2021 – Present)
B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (2021)

Max joined the lab directly out of undergrad in Fall of 2021 as part of a co-advising appointment with Dr. Zhao and Dr. Patricio Vela in the Electrical and Computer Engineering department. He is currently exploring motion planning and navigation for quadrupedal systems. Overall, Max is investigating how we can perform tasks like perception and planning in a robot-centric reference frame by moving such tasks into the perception space. By doing so, we can achieve favorable computational benefits and mitigate errors that arise due to odometry drift. When Max is not working on research, he can often be found watching horror movies, playing pick-up soccer, or attending music concerts.
